Become a trustee

Independent Lives is looking to recruit new trustees to our board. We’re looking for enthusiastic and driven people who want to make a positive difference in our communities and have a genuine interest in our work.

We are a user-led charity and social enterprise, based in West Sussex and Croydon. We work to change the lives of disabled people, people with support needs and carers. Our vision is a fair society where everyone can participate and fulfil their potential.

We believe that by working together we can achieve real change in the lives of the people we support, so that we can all participate in our communities and have greater choice, control, and freedom.

For us to realise our vision and values, we need highly effective and committed trustees to provide support to our leadership team to help ensure that we achieve our aims.

We are particularly looking for people with the following backgrounds:

  • Lived experience of disability
  • Health & social care
  • HR
  • Legal

We are seeking outstanding people with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the willingness to commit an average of one to two days per month.

Board meetings are held quarterly. We also hold an annual general meeting. We would like Board Members to be involved; to be visible and engage with our members and the public.
